Description
Antique French Industrial Clock – Late Victorian Era – Professionally Restored This lot features a rare late Victorian-era industrial clock, crafted in France with exceptional quality. The clock’s functional governor balls move up and down, controlled by a central spring retainer. The large glass globes over each dial magnify the silvered faces, enhancing its striking visual appeal. The case has undergone a full professional restoration. The brass has been carefully polished and waxed, while the nickel plating was expertly redone by a piano restoration specialist to ensure authentic, period-correct craftsmanship. The original dents and dings were intentionally preserved to maintain the clock’s historical integrity. The movement is an 8-day, time-only, lever-action mechanism. However, the barometer movement is missing, and while we have attempted to source a period-appropriate replacement, we have not yet found one. There are some chips to the edges of the glass, but they do not detract from the overall presentation. A rare and exceptional find, especially in this condition.
