Description
Antique Eastlake-style spring latches with richly detailed architectural ornamentation. The decorative outer plates are solid brass, exhibiting a warm, original aged patina, while the internal spring mechanisms are metal and fully functional, with smooth action and strong tension. Two latches are identical & one is slightly larger. They are sold separately- unless the customer informs us, a single order will receive the larger spring latch. Order for two will receive the pair unless we are told otherwise. (This is a charming design so we'll search for more to keep the listing open.) All the spring latches have the same Eastlake pattern and were very likely purchased from the same Seattle supplier during the early 20th century. Measurements (for reference): Latch 1: approx. 3 1/4" H × 1 3/8" W Latch 2: approx. 2 7/8" (2 15/16") H × 1 1/4" W Date Range (confidence statement): Based on design, materials, and construction, this pair dates to circa 1910–1925, when Eastlake and late Victorian motifs remained widely used in West Coast architecture, including Seattle-area homes.
