Senior was a Civil War veteran and the author of popular books like The Autocrat at the Breakfast Table. Sized 10x8 inches, bound in green leather patterned cloth, bright gilt titles. 197 pages. Contains a Hymn for the Celebration of Italian Unity by Julia Ward Howe, author of Battle Hymn of the Republic. Inside the book there is an invoice from Meyer Boswell Books, San Francisco, selling the book to Francis Coughlin M.D., for $450 in 1996. We are opening this auction at less than half that amount. This is an incredible book, so rare that we can't find another copy online.
