VTG Bear Creek Canon, Colorado Photographic Post Card Ancient Fallen Giant Tree N129 Bear Creek Canon, Colorado Published by The Denver News Company Denver, Colorado This listing is for a rather odd looking photographic post card image of what appears to be a fallen or cut down giant tree and stump. Do you see the strange and unusual anomaly? “BEAR CREEK CANON, the main entrance to Denver National Parks, is 15 miles from Denver. Many summer homes are built along the canon in to Evergreen, Colo., a popular spot for the trout fisherman.” This post card is unposted, but believed to be from the 1920s - 1940s. Someone took the time to write the following sentiments: “My friends here have a lovely camp in this canyon. This is the most fascinating country you can imagine - every scene is like the old movie serials!” Note on provenance: This was obtained from a lot or grouping of old photos, papers, art, and other correspondence purchased at Goodwill in 2018 related to Adele Goodman Clark, who was a noted artist and suffragette. The items appear to have been part of the estate of Adeline Harmon Cowles Cox, daughter of Edith Clark Cowles and niece of Adele. They were likely donated by family members some time after Adeline’s death in 1989.
