Both with older vacuums and newer ones measure your vacuum hose and vacuum accessories diameter to make sure that they are compatible with the adapters Combine adapters or use one by itself. Use these as a converter for your attachments to connect to your vacuum hose. If you use this with an attachment and it keeps falling off secure with a piece of tape, some heavy attachments may need to be secured. These vacuum hose connectors are made out of plastic and have either a tapered fit or a step fit. The 3 smaller adapters are made out of hard plastic. The larger adapter have some give in the material. One adapter will connect together a 1 1/4 in hose and 1 1/4 inch attachment since each side of the adapter is the same size.
