Description

An Original Wood block Print ' Lake Llyn Llydau ' ( & Snowdon, Wales. ) George Henry Wood (1847-1945) Self-taught British wood-engraver and member of the Bradford Art Club. Several in this series of compositions feature the Aire Valley. A superb original example of one of his 'Woodcu t Etchings'. Printed the Cistercian Press, Bradford on 'fine India tissue paper' (as woodcuts of the vintage often were, resulting in very fine detail). Date: 1927 Assumed to be from a Limited Edition (not numbered) Typical forerunner of the mid 1900s woodcut print 'revival movement' of his contemporaries Gill, Clare Leighton, Bacher, Lynd Ward, Miller-Parker, Daglish, Gibbings, Oldham, Mackley, etc. Condition: As per our pictures (Excellent) (NB: Classic print with no text on the reverse, trimmed, slight signs of age in the paper) Size: image as seen, approx. 4.5 x 3.25 inches (plus margins).
