Welcome to The Textile Trunk ~ please follow me on Instagram , we are @textiletrunk This lovely textile is an antique French jacquard weave curtain! It's a very exciting find as this textile dates from the age of the Art Nouveau explosion! ( Currently at the time of listing, I have the matching panel. If you search my store for ' Large scale Damask" it will appear. Late 1800's ~ this is a jacquard weave, woven using both cotton , silk and some wool in the blend also. It's confusing because I would have said that the " front" of the damask pattern would have been the red floral with maroon ground, however they had backed that side ( the backing is removed as it was in very very poor condition. Really, you can use the fabric for either side, they are both lovely. I've not seen such a large scale design before in damask, it's a lovely discovery! The original 19th century rings are still attached at the top ~ The fabric is heavy weight, so you can also deconstruct the curtain and use for upholstery fabric. It's just lovely ! The colors are : raspberry pinky red, and the ground of deep plum maroon/ more towards the brown tone than red. Measurements : This lovely curtain measures 70 inches long by 52 inches wide at the bottom. At the top, where it is gathered it measures 40 inches wide. CONDITION : This lovely fabric is in as found, not freshly laundered condition ~ It would benefit from being dry cleaned. ( reflected in the price) There is wear on what would have been the front side. Some light areas of use ~ The back is in fabulous condition ~ A nice find indeed. Etsy G 69
