These remarkable Letu & Mauger bisque porcelain figures are antique gems from L’Isle-Adam (Val-d’Oise), Paris, France and date to the 1850-1890 period. Both pieces are marked with pressed L&M and 59 in black ink. These figurines depict Greek allegories. One shows Leda and the Swan (Zeus in disguise). The other piece depicts Zeus as the Eagle with his daughter Hebe, the cupbearer. It is rare to find these two pieces together. This set is a perfect addition to any collection, collectors of allegorical porcelain, Old Paris porcelain collectors, and would make a thoughtful gift for a special occasion or loved one. Provenance : acquire from an Estate in Surrey, UK. Condition - The figurines are in remarkable excellent condition for their age. We did not observe chips or damage on the pieces. There is very little loss to gold and there are only a couple of minor, superficial kiln lines in one of the pieces (visible in pictures). No paint loss observed.   1. The statue was as described but arrived broken. This was a delicate porcelain figurine with outstretched arms and fingers. It was wrapped in large bubble wrap and tightly surrounded with Styrofoam peanuts. The box was thin walled so any pressure would and did cause damage. Items like this should always be double boxed with softer wrap to allow some give. I would not buy delicate items from this seller. Fortunately, I did get a refund.
