‘Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful.’ William Morris French Antique Silverplated Large Tea Caddy/Box A large size, lidded heavily silverplated storage caddy/box that was used for decades as a tea caddy. With its rounded corners and perfectly fitted rounded lid, it is very classically styled. It is hallmarked AP on the bottom which is very likely for André Plessis who had a shop near Paris between 1907 and 1934. The box is very clean with some traces of surface wear and a very light bump on a corner of the lid and a couple of minuscule pinpricks. The bottom edge has a light bump, invisible when the box is placed on a surface. It measures 4 inches high, 6 ¾ inches wide by 4 ¼ deep and weighs 1.3 lbs. It sat for decades next to an elegant coffee/tea service and would look very handsome on any sideboard to store tea, coffee or small bonbons.
