Offered here for your decorating or gift giving needs, comes this nostalgic old world Santa Claus figurine from Department 56, like new in the box! This handsome example stands 8 1/2” tall and depicts a white robed Kris Kringle looking every bit the Victorian Santa. He holds a staff in his left hand while his right proffers the bounty of the season—snowy branches and toys for tots. Lots of details abound including a satchel of apples slung across his shoulder, a sack on his back laden with goodies, and his hood adorned with ivy and berries. The piece is entirely hand painted, like German Belsnickles of old. A dusting of mica glitter shimmers like new fallen snow. The condition is very good! The original shredded paper packing material remains in the factory box (also sprinkled with glitter!) which is illustrated with the likeness of the figurine. All in all, a very whimsical, old fashioned icon of Christmas!
