Bryce Higbee Glass - History The factory, located in Homestead on the southwest side of Pittsburgh, became known as the “Homestead Glass Works.” Higbee was the general sales manager. Bryce Higbee produced primarily pressed tableware. John Bryce died in 1888. In 1907, the Homestead plant was destroyed by fire. Bryce Higbee Glass Company ceased operations. John B. Higbee organized the John B. Higbee Glass Company and built a new glass factory at Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. He died in December 1906.
