Description
This is a sweet little stoneware pottery house from the artist Carla Shurtliff Jimison (originally from Mt Pleasant Michigan, now a professor at Brigham Young University-Idaho). The artist has confirmed this was a piece she created sometime between 1978 and 1981 as a night light. In an email, she details the process stating the houses (there were originally 4 different styles) were "made of a high fire stoneware and glazed with iron oxide and an off white glaze". Originally they did come with an electrical cord with a light bulb so they could light up. Cord/Light bulb are NOT included. You could use a cord/light bulb or possibly a battery operated tea lite. Could even use in a fairy garden. It has a rustic finish and is done in an English Tudor style. It stands approximately 6 1/4 inches tall, 3 3/4 inches long and is about 3 7/8 inches wide. It weighs about 1 pound 5 ounces. House is in good vintage pre-owned condition. I did not find any nicks, chips, cracks or repairs.
