The base is cast iron, and the handle is made from flat metal stock. The flat stock was hand forged to flatten and rounded around the grip area. The iron was cleaned and then finished with oil and wax to protect the metal and patina. It weighs 4 lb. 9oz.and is perfect for a collector or those who appreciate primitive antique historical items.
