Description

6 Vintage Sterling Silver Slip‑On Bangles: 1940s–1950s; Solid 925; ~37.4g. The set includes one wide floral bangle, two matching oval‑scroll bangles, two matching scroll‑pattern bangles, and one narrow bangle with a rounded center and a beaded edge. Each bangle has its own distinct mid‑century stamped or rolled pattern. These six sterling silver bangles belonged to my mother and date from the 1940s–1950s. They were worn together as a set, then stored together for decades after she stopped wearing them. All six are marked STERLING, and the combined weight of the set is approximately 37.4 grams, as shown in the photo. This is a true vintage grouping that has stayed together since mid‑century and was not assembled from separate sources. The set includes one wide floral bangle, two matching oval‑scroll bangles, two matching scroll‑pattern bangles, and one narrow bangle with a rounded center and a beaded edge. Each bangle has its own distinct mid‑century stamped or rolled pattern. The designs include floral motifs, oval and scroll elements, linear scrollwork, and a beaded‑edge pattern. These decorative patterns are typical of American sterling bangles from the 1940s–1950s and give the set a visually interesting, mixed‑pattern look when worn together! The inside diameters range from approximately 2.75 inches to 2.9 inches. The inside circumferences range from approximately 7‑9/16 inches to 8‑1/16 inches. The widths, corresponding to the first photo from left to right, are 6.75 mm, 3.5 mm, 3.5 mm, 1.5 mm, 1.5 mm, and 2 mm. These are slip‑on bangles, so the inside circumference determines fit. They may be difficult to put on for someone with wider knuckles, even if their wrist is small, which is normal for vintage slip‑on styles. Two of the narrowest bangles show visible solder joins. This is typical of mid‑century sterling construction, where silver wire was shaped into a circle and soldered closed. These are not repairs, and the bangles remain structurally sound. There are no cracks, splits, or dents, but one of the thinner bangles is slightly out of round from age and normal wear. All six have natural patina from long‑term storage and have not been polished, cleaned, or altered. These belonged to my mother and were worn by her in the 1940s–1950s. They have been in my family ever since and were not purchased as a dealer‑assembled set. Since I have cats and they love to supervise the photography process, a stray cat hair is always possible!
