Mollusks Shells #13 Hand-Colored 1843 DeKay Natural History NY Matted Lithograph I acquired a large collection of antique prints from a retired antique print dealer in Maine. These prints were already loosely matted or matted and shrink-wrapped when I received them and are being sold as is. Most of the mats have written notations (in pencil) or bumped corners etc. Please see all photos and measurements as you might want to have your print re-matted. The majority of my prints are antique bookplates which look great matted and framed. Genuine antique print Hand colored lithograph Book Plate Shell - Mollusk - Clam - Seashell - Plate #13 Source: Natural History of New York 1843 Artist: James E. DeKay Endicott & Co. Lithographers Corners of matting bumped. There is about a 2" dent in upper right section of print (see photo). The whole piece is shrink wrapped. See pictures and description. Please excuse the glare from the shrinkwrap. The original dealer's sticker and notations are still attached to the back on the shrinkwrap. Entire matted print is shrink-wrapped. Matted with archival mats using easily removable archival tape. Matte - Light Cream colored. As mentioned above, the matte is bumped on the corners and has some wear. Has white foam core backing. Will be mailed in a rigid mailer. ‘Print’ describes an image created on paper or other material as a separate entity or bound into a book or other publication. A print from a book or magazine can be termed a ‘print’ or alternatively ‘book/magazine plate’ and is termed 'original' in that it is a genuine item emanating from the publication referred to and is not a subsequent copy or reproduction.
